Mumbai, July 29: Banking services will be affected next month as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the list of bank holidays for August 2024. According to the announcement, banks will remain closed for a total of 13 days in August. The list of holidays includes second and fourth Saturdays, all Sundays, and regional and national holidays.

Banks will remain closed only in states where state-specific festivals are held next month. Given the number of holidays in August 2024, it's important to schedule bank visits in a timely manner and keep a note of the holiday list. List of Bank Holidays in August 2024:

  • August 3: Banks will remain closed in Agartala on the account of Ker Puja.
  • August 4: Banks will be shut in all states due to Sunday being a weekend.
  • August 8: Banking services will be closed for the day in Sikkim on the occasion of the Tendong Lho Rum Faat festival.
  • August 10-11: Banks across the country will remain closed due to second Saturday and Sunday.
  • August 13: Banks will be closed in Manipur for Patriot’s Day.
  • August 15: Banking services, except online banking and ATMs, will remain closed across the country to mark Independence Day.
  • August 18: Banks will stay shut in all states due to the day being a weekend (Sunday).
  • August 19: Banks will remain closed in a few states across the country on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
  • August 20: To mark Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi, banks will remain closed in Kerala.
  • August 24-25: Banks will be shut across the country due to the fourth Saturday and Sunday.

It must be noted that RBI designates holidays for all the banks in the country under the Negotiable Instruments Act holidays, the Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) holidays, and the Banks' Closing of Accounts holidays. While banks will remain closed for 13 days in August, internet banking, ATM, and mobile banking services will be operational.
