According to an article on Indian Express, almost 14 people go missing from Bengaluru every day, infact the trend has become so popular that Police no longer gets shocked when they come to know of any such incident. Some depressing things pointed out in the report are that among the people missing, some return on their own, while few others can never be stressed. A senior police official mentioned in the report, points out, majority of the victims are young girls, elderly people, children and those having Alzheimer’s.
The article further highlighted that there is certainly callousness, apathy and lack of sensitivity in the police department and more prompt action is expected. Therefore, reportedly, the erstwhile expert committee constituted by the state government under the chairmanship of VS Ugrappa recommended constituting a special squad for redressal of missing cases.”
