Dibrugarh, June 15: In a shocking incident, a man accused of raping his teenage daughter has allegedly killed his wife outside a session court at Assam’s Dibrugarh on Friday. According to a report published in Hindustan Times, the 35-year old accused, Purna Nahar Deka attacked his wife, Ritu, outside the court with a sharp knife. Ritu was supposed to testify against Deka when she was attacked.

Dibrugarh police station in-charge Sidheshwar Borah told Hindustan Times, “The accused slit his wife’s throat with a knife. She was rushed to the Assam Medical College Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.” Ritu accused her husband of raping their 13-year-old daughter.  The case was registered against Deka almost 11 months ago. According to the report, Deka was imprisoned for nine months after the charges were proved against him. He was out on a bail when the incident happened.

The 35-year-old accused is a resident of Joypore in Naharkatiya. “Deka’s wife was supposed to depose before the judge against her husband in the same case on Friday. Both reached the court separately. But Deka attacked his wife before the proceedings could begin,” reported Hindustan Times quoting Borah. The accused has been arrested, and the investigation is underway.
