Judge Madhusudhan Sharma of the court of SC/ST cases also convicted two other accused Shilpi and Sharad while two others Prakash and Shiva were acquitted. According to latest reports, three accused including Asaram convicted, two other accused acquitted by Jodhpur Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Court in a rape case. The SC/ST court that convicted Asaram in the 2013 rape case will now announce the quantum of punishment for the self-styled 'godman'.

Special Judge SC/ST Court Madhusudhan Sharma is in the jail premises to deliver the verdict. Reports talking about visuals from the Johpur jail where Asaram is lodged show exterior walls that have been written upon. "Bapu jaldi bahar aao (Bapu, come out of jail soon)," reads one of the scribbles on the jail's walls.
Security has also been increased near the home of the woman who accused Asaram of sexually assaulting her in Jodhpur in 2013. KB Singh, an officer from the Uttar Pradesh Police, has said that they have been providing "full security" to the victim and her family.
Heavy police presence outside Jodhpur jail where a Special judge is set to pronounce the verdict in the Asaram rape case. Proceedings have begun inside the Jodhpur jail courtroom and the Judge has instructed that the verdict be announced by the lawyers to the media only once he leaves the Jodhpur Jail premises.
The hearing in the Asaram rape case has begun in Jodhpur Central Jail. Asaram's involvement was probed in two separate cases - one from Rajasthan and the other from Gujarat. The self-styled guru who is in jail since August 31, 2013, was charged under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. If convicted, he could be jailed for a maximum sentence of 10 years.
Jodhpur, April 25: The Jodhpur Court will pronounce its verdict in the rape case against self-styled godman Asaram Bapu on Wednesday. Considering an appeal from the Jodhpur Police Commissioner, a division bench of the Rajasthan High Court on Tuesday ordered the trial court to deliver its verdict inside the jail premises. Apprehending trouble from thousands of followers of Asaram in case of an adverse judgment, security has been stepped up and prohibitory orders issued in the city ahead of the trial court verdict in the rape case against Asaram today.
Apprehending a threat to law and order from followers of Asaram Bapu, the police have imposed prohibitory orders across the state. The division bench comprising Justice Gopal K. Vyas and Justice Ram Chandra Singh Jhala also issued guidelines to the Jodhpur Police Commissioner and the District Magistrate and Collector to ensure law and order in the city on the verdict day.
As per the high court's order, the Central Jail Superintendent and the district administration have been directed to make all arrangements for proceedings inside the jail for the pronouncement of the judgment. To recall, Asaram was arrested in 2013 after a minor girl from Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh) had reported sexual assault by Asaram in his ashram during her stay in Manai village on the outskirts of Jodhpur. Thereafter, he was then brought from Indore and jailed in the Jodhpur Central jail. Several clashes have been reported between the police and his followers since then.
Asaram was booked under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the SC/ST Act and was denied bail by the Supreme Court. He can face a maximum of 10 years in jail if found guilty.
