Arun Jaitley Heath Update on Kidney Ailment: AIIMS Director Says, ‘No Surgery Performed on Finance Minister Yet'

New Delhi, April 9: Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley who was admitted to AIIMS on Friday, has been put on dialysis for some days before he undergoes the kidney transplant. Talking about Jaitley’s health, Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director AIIMS while speaking to NDTV informed that the minister has kidney issues which are being evaluated and that optimum treatment will be provided.

Guleria said that no surgery has been conducted so far and said that Jaitley is on complete bed rest. He further added saying that he will soon be fit and resume work. To recall, the 65-year old minister is suffering from a kidney ailment and has not been attending office since last Monday.

Earlier reports informed that Jaitley is undergoing dialysis at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) ahead of a kidney transplant surgery that may take place in the next few days.  "Jaitleyji would be on dialysis for some days before the kidney transplant operation is conducted," an official was quoted by IANS.

Reports inform that Jaitley was admitted in the hospital on Thursday to carry out the official formalities between him and the donor for the surgery. He was admitted to the Cardio-Neuro Tower in AIIMS on Friday and has been under observation since then.

In the last week, Jaitley underwent a series of medical tests at AIIMS ahead of his kidney transplant surgery and was kept under observation. Earlier there were reports that his surgery is likely to be done on Sunday. On Thursday i.e. April 5, Jaitley had confirmed that he was suffering from kidney problems and infections.
