Anantnag: Army Clarifies no Blast, Says Two People Injured After a Slab Fell on Them at a Construction Site
The Army clarified that the two people earlier reported to be injured in the explosion got hurt after a slab fell on them at a construction site at 21 Field Ammunition Depot (FAD).
Anantnag, January 16: The Indian Army clarified that no blast took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday. The Army stated that the two people earlier reported to be injured in the explosion got hurt after a slab fell on them at a construction site at 21 Field Ammunition Depot (FAD). Anantnag houses one of the biggest ordnance depots of the army in Kashmir.
Earlier today, reports were doing rounds that two persons were injured in an explosion in Kundroo village in Anantnag. As per police reports, the explosion was accidental, and they were not able to identify the exact spot of the incident. The official handle of Jammu and Kashmir police stated, “Accidental explosion in Kundroo, Anantnag. Two injured porters being treated”. The J&K police handle further informed that the information was preliminary as ‘more details are being collected’.
On Monday morning, security forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Batengoo area of south Kashmir's Anantnag district. Massive forces were deployed in the area to conduct house-to-house searches. As per reports, the forces personnel comprising Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu & Kashmir police, army's 1 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 90 batallion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jointly launched the operation.
As per reports by PTI, Police on Monday siezed 500 kilograms of polythene, which is banned in the state from Anantnag district. "In its drive against use of polythene, police seized more than 500 kilograms of polythene in Anantnag and Handwara," a police spokesman said.
