Mumbai, May 22: The JD(S) aspirant H D Kumaraswamy is all set to take oath today and will be sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, hence angry BJP party workers staged a protest against the Congress-JD(S) coalition.  BJP emerged as the single largest party in Karnataka with 104 MLAs in the recently-held assembly elections while Congress won 78 MLAs and appeared as the second largest party. However, after the last-minute partnership with JD(S), the latter (Congress) also jumped-in to stake their claim to form a government.

Unable to form a government, the BJP party workers shouted slogans against the alliance. Also, they wore black ribbons on their arms to show their disapproval. The protest has come following BJP's failure in Karnataka to go for floor test to prove their party majority in the legislative assembly earlier. Meanwhile, the BJP Party President Amit Shah also called the Congress-JD(S) alliance as unholy.

A significant political tussle took place between the saffron party and secular parties in a pursuit to stake claim to form a government after assembly election results threw a fractured mandate since no political party received a full majority. The drama went up to the apex court who in return ordered BS Yeddyurappa, who was allowed to stake a claim to form his government by Governor Vajubhai Vala on condition of 15 days times, to prove his party majority. However, setting aside the time given by the governor, the Supreme Court ordered BJP to go for an immediate floor test. But before showing their majority, BJP quit and Yeddyurappa resigned from CM's post. After that, the move eventually paved the way for Congress-JD(S) post-poll alliance to form their government in Karnataka.
