A report in Times of India states that the owner Sudhir Kumar Verma used to stay in this building with eight of his other family members. He had been trying to get rid of the rodents from a long time but his efforts were in vain. The plaster from the ceilings had already began to fall which is when the neighbours suggested the family to move out. The family did move out but most of their belongings were left behind. And just about an hour later, the entire building came crashing down! The debris did not fall on anyone or other houses. The entire incident was grabbed on a video.

"My ancestral house was destroyed in seconds. My family and I had a narrow escape. We tried everything possible to get rid of the rats, and stop the damage to the foundations, but nothing worked. After the recent rains and high-speed winds, the walls developed cracks. We knew it was a dangerous situation, but not that the building would collapse like this," Verma was quoted in the same report. The councillor of the area also agreed that rats have been a menace in the area. The incident of the building crash is quiet serious it is high time the authorities look into the eliminating the rodent menace before any other untoward incident takes place.
