AAI Relaxes Rules to Facilitate Construction Under PM Awas Yojana in Trivandrum Airport Vicinity
Earlier on Friday, Prabhu was appealed by Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor to look into the issue as it obstructed the allotment of houses to the beneficiaries of PM Awas Yojana.
Trivandrum, April 7: The Airport Authority of India (AAI) on Saturday announced the relaxation of rules in the vicinity of Trivandrum Airport to facilitate the construction of houses, including those under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
As per the amended guidelines, the developers building complexes in the non-red zone -- the area not acutely close to the runway -- can go ahead with the construction without going through the tedious process of obtaining a no-objection certificate. However, the developers need to adhere to the Colour Coded Zoning Maps with predefined heights of the buildings and structures.
The AAI reiterated that those building houses in the red-zone need to obtain the NOC. However, the area covered under the red-zone would be re-adjusted, it added.
The authority swung into action after being directed by Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu to pay heed towards the plight raised by Trivandrum residents.
Here's the AAI order embedded along with the directive of Prabhu:

The demand to relax the norms was raised last year as well, reports said. The solution offered by the AAI could bring respite to the developers.
