Mumbai, September 2: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline to update one's Aadhaar card details for free to September 14. The UIDAI recommends updating the Aadhaar card every 10 years to avoid difficulties while applying for government schemes. The new deadline of September 14 for updating Aadhaar card is a three-month extension after the last deadline of June 14. The UIDAI had earlier extended the deadline to update Aadhaar details multiple times, such as on March 14, 2024, and December 15, 2023. As per the UIDAI, updating the Aadhaar card after 10 years is a mandatory requirement. What Details in Aadhaar Card Can be Updated?

All Indian Aadhaar card holders can update their residential address as well as their registered mobile number. However, while one can easily update their address online using the One Time Password (OTP) received on their registered mobile number, updating the registered phone number must be done manually by visiting an authorised centre of UIDAI. Other details such as the user's name, e-mail ID, photo, etc. can also be updated at these authorised centres. Steps to Update Aadhaar Card Details Online:

Any Aadhaar card holder with access to a smartphone or computer with internet can update their Aadhaar card details by following these steps:

1. Visit the Aadhaar Self-Service Portal on the UIDAI website at (uidai.gov.in/).

2. Select your preferred language to proceed on the website, then choose 'Aadhaar Services' from the list of services provided.

3. Log in with your Aadhaar number, Captcha, and the One Time Password (OTP) received on your registered mobile number.

4. Click on the 'Document Update' section and review your existing details for accuracy.

5. From the drop-down menu that appears, choose the appropriate document format and upload the respective scanned copies for verification of the details you changed and updated.

6. Note down the Service Request Number to track the progress of your Aadhaar card details update process.
