New Delhi, February 8: Aadhaar- the 12-digit identification number is a must-have document in India. The government has made it mandatory to link Aadhaar number with PAN number, Bank Accounts, Mobile numbers, mutual funds, PPF account and insurance policies. Not adhering to the deadline will make the account un-operational and therefore individuals can’t avail the benefits of the government scheme. Amid rising concerns over safety and security of Aadhaar, it is important for account holders to check for which services and schemes their Aadhaar has been used. This helps the user to track if their details are safe or have been misused by anyone.
For the convenience of its users, UIDAI has come up with the “Aadhaar Authentication History” tool on its website that enables users to check Aadhaar Authentication online and track its usage. Using this facility, users can find out when an agency would have accessed the biometric, demographic and one-time password. With the new tool, an individual can now check the Aadhaar history on uidai.gov.in in simple steps by just sitting at home.
Here's a step-by-step guide to verify the mobile number and email ID linked to your Aadhaar account:
- Visit the UIDAI site and go to Aadhaar Services section and go to https://resident.uidai.gov.in/notification-aadhaar on your browser
2. Check the Aadhaar Authentication History option on the left side. Click on it and you will be taken to another window
3. Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number in the box and a 4-digit security code. An OTP will be generated on your registered Aadhaar number
4. A page will open asking for information like-- Authentication Type; Select Date Range; Number of Records; and OTP. Fill all the details and click on Submit.
5. The user will get the list of all the places where your Aadhaar has been used. In case you find any misuse of your Aadhaar information, you can complain about the same to UIDAI by calling on 1945
6. Once the user completes the process, UIDAI displays the history in a tabular format that includes date, time, type ID and authentication type among others.
As per details on the UIDAI website, an individual can lodge a complaint in case if the Aadhaar number is misused. The UIDAI mentioned on its website saying, "This feature can be used to view Authentication details. Fetch your Aadhaar authentication history (Notifications) data."
The UIDAI- a body that issues Aadhaar to all the citizens in India has rolled out a number of features that allow common man to check and update information related to Aadhaar centres, secure biometrics, checking Aadhaar Authentication History, enrolling for Aadhaar, updating the Aadhaar details, linking Aadhaar to various documents. It must be noted that to avail of this facility online, an individual is required to have the registered mobile number handy.
