New Delhi, November 12: The 12-digit Aadhaar number is currently the world's largest biometric ID system assigned to all the residents of India. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the body that issues the Aadhaar number, has come up with several Aadhaar tools online on its official website uidai.gov.in. With these online services, the UIDAI has now made it easier for people to change the address in the Aadhaar identification card.
The online facilities include various Aadhaar based Services like verifying your Aadhaar number online, lock/unlock biometric details, find enrollment centres, check Aadhaar status among other services. These tools enable a user to update or correct his or use the online facility without any hassle. A user is not needed to visit the Aadhaar centres and stand in long queues to update the address in the Aadhaar card.
Follow these easy steps to change your Address on Aadhaar online:
- Visit the official UIDAI website at uidai.gov.in. It must be noted that any resident with a registered mobile number can update address using the UIDAI services.
- Under the Aadhaar Update Section, click on the 'Address Update Request (Online)' tool.
3. The user will be redirected to a new page where UIDAI shares information regarding Address change. Once a user is done the reading, click on 'proceed'.
4. Enter your Aadhaar number in the box and the captcha code (text verification). Click on 'Send OTP'. OTP or one-time password is sent by the Aadhaar system on the user's registered mobile number.
5. It must be noted that the registered mobile number is mandatory to receive a password to log in. Once a user receives the OTP, type it in the box to log in your Aadhaar.
6. A user will be redirected to the Aadhaar Update Portal where he/she can select the field which they wish to update. Choose the 'Address' option and click on 'Submit'.
7. An individual is then required to fill in the details and ensure all the information is correctly filled as it will be reflected in the new Aadhaar card.
8. Once the form is submitted, a URN (Update Request Number) will be generated.
9. Select a BPO service provider to review the updated information and hit “Submit”.
10. A user should then upload supporting documentation that would validate the change required.
