Meanwhile, the Central Government has revised the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) for unorganized sector workers, increasing minimum wage rates. This revision, effective from October 1, 2024, benefits workers in industries such as construction, mining, agriculture, and housekeeping. The new wage structure varies by skill level and geographical area, with unskilled workers in Area “A” earning Rs 783 per day, semi-skilled workers receiving Rs 868, and skilled workers paid Rs 954 per day. Highly skilled workers will now earn Rs 1,035 per day.
