While earlier reports suggested the government would announce the DA hike in early September, it is now anticipated that the announcement will align with the Haryana Assembly elections, scheduled for October 5.

Historically, DA hikes are revealed one to two weeks before Diwali, and this year is expected to follow the same trend. Based on the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI) and an increase from 138.8 to 141.4 between December 2023 and June 2024, it is anticipated that DA will increase by at least 3%, raising the percentage from 50.28% to 53.36%. If the DA hike is implemented in October, employees and pensioners will receive a significant boost, benefiting from three months of arrears alongside the increased monthly allowance.
