32-Year-Old ‘Terrorist’ Nabbed by Maharashtra ATS Was ‘Trained in Pakistan’

The accused, who was allegedly planning to conduct blasts in Mumbai and other parts of the country, was arrested from Juhu on Sunday, based on the information received from the intelligence, in a joint operation by the Maharashtra and Kolkata ATS.

Mumbai, May 14: The Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) officials arrested a 32-year-old man named Faizal Khan on Sunday, who was allegedly planning to conduct bomb attacks in Mumbai and other parts of the country. During the investigation, it's revealed that the man was trained in Pakistan and had returned to Mumbai from an unknown location in the country.

Police said Khan received training in a suicide bombing, bombs making and gun training. Sources added, "He had plans to target VIPs and also been assigned a job to kill a top politician from the ruling party along with other famous landmarks and establishments, to conduct blast subsequently."

The accused was produced before the court on Friday and will be kept  in custody until May 21 for further interrogation.  Faizal Khan was arrested from Juhu, based on the information received from the intelligence in a joint operation by the Maharashtra and Kolkata ATS earlier. More arrests are expected in upcoming days by the agency.
