Asansol, May 30: Four youths raped a 16-year-old school student in the Dehorapara area of Kulti in Bengal’s West Burdwan district on Saturday. Police have arrested three accused, while one accused is still on the run. According to a report published in Hindustan Times, the three accused who were arrested have been charged under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

The accused were produced before Asansol court on Tuesday. All of them were remanded in the police custody. According to the report, the victim stated in her police complaint that four youths secretly shot a video when she was bathing in a pond on Saturday afternoon. After that, they threatened her to circulate the video. The four accused took her to an isolated place and raped her.

The father of the girl accidentally came to know about the incident when he discovered a suicide note written by the victim. In the suicide note, the girl mentioned everything. After seeing the note her father took her to the police. The girl appeared for the Bengal secondary board exams in March this year.

On the condition of anonymity, a Kulti police station officer told Hindustan Times, “The accused, Mitan Bauri, Pradip Bauri and Bikash Bauri are all residents of Dhaorapara area in Kulti. They have been booked under Section 376 D of Indian Penal Code and Section 6 of POSCO Act.” He further added that the three accused were arrested on Monday night on the basis of the complaint lodged on Saturday.
