New Delhi, June 21: Much to the happiness of employees who have been long waiting for a promotion, the Indian Railways will soon promote their three lakh railway employees from grade-- 'C' to Grade --'B'. As per the official information, the promotions will also open up various job opportunities for the vacated positions in Indian Railways.
According to reports, the Centre has formed a committee on June 12, which will prepare a proposal on various recommendations to be applied while the employees to be promoted in next month of July.
With the latest promotions, the employees will become officers, and will also get high-end facilities like an individual car, free yearly pass with family to tour all over India through railways, to reside in a government-owned bungalow, personnel clerk, membership in officers club and several other facilities.
Furthermore, their grade pay will also subsequently increase from Rs. 4,200 to Rs.4, 800. Reportedly in other government sectors, employees who were having grade pay Rs. 4,200 were promoted to Grade 'B' long ago. However, the Indian Railways did not implement the same move in their department as yet.
The group 'C' employees are from civil, mechanical, electrical and mechanical departments who will be promoted to the grade 'B'. At present, there are nine thousand employees in the technical department while in the non-technical department there are more than 4 lakh employees. Therefore around three lakhs are eligible for the promotions said one of the senior railway officials reportedly.
Besides, with the promotion of employees from Grade 'C' to Grade 'B', the Indian Railways may also call new application for job opportunities to fill the vacant positions.
