New Delhi, Feb 14: Absconding Indian Mujahideen "terrorist" Ariz Khan, also known by his pseudo-name Junaid, has been apprehended by the Delhi Police's Special Cell. His arrest was reportedly made four days ago in Nepal. On Wednesday, Delhi Police sources confirmed that Junaid has been taken into custody for interrogation.

Junaid, reports claim, is accused of being involved in the spree of terror attacks carried out by the Indian Mujahideen in 2008.

"He is an expert bomb maker, conspirator and executioner. He was associated with Atif Amin who was killed in Batla House encounter. He was also wanted in 2007 UP blasts, 2008 Jaipur serial blasts, 2008 Ahmedabad blasts and had escaped from Batla House encounter," said Pramod Singh Kushwaha, DCP, Special Cell Delhi Police.

Junaid was among the three alleged terrorists who were involved in the Batla House Encounter — on September 19, 2008. The two others — Mohammed Atif Ameen and Mohammed Sajid were neutralised in the gunfight, whereas, the third member, Junaid, had reportedly succeeded to flee.

Junaid's arrest is the second major catch for the forces in 2018. On January 22, Abdul Subhan Qureshi alias Tauqeer - a "top operative" of the banned Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) - was nabbed by the Delhi Police following a gunfight.
