India Will Have 100 New Airports for $60 Billion in Next 15 Years, Says Suresh Prabhu
New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport has jumped six notches to break into the league of the top 20 busiest airports in the world for 2017 in terms of traffic volumes.
New Delhi, September 5: At an event in Delhi, Union Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu said, "We have planned 100 new airports to be built in India over the next 10-15 years, with an investment of almost $60 billion." India's aviation sector is one of the fastest-growing in the world and has recorded 50 months of double-digit traffic growth. According to IATA, India is expected to overtake Germany, Japan, Spain and the UK within the next ten years to become the world’s third largest air passenger market.
