New Delhi, June 5: A Jaguar fighter plane of the Indian Air Force crashed in Gujarat's Kutch region on Tuesday. The debris of the plane were found in Mundra Taluka of Kutch at around 10:40 am. The pilot on board, identified as Air Commodore Sanjay Chauhan, has been confirmed dead. A court of inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of accident.
Reports claim the IAF plane took off from Gujarat's Jamnagar. TV reports claim the fighter jet was manned by a single pilot with other IAF personnel onboard.
Photos posted by news agency ANI showed the debris of the plane scattered over a wide area, suggesting a major crash. According to Times Now, the jaguar was nearly 22-25 years old.

Earlier this year, a fatal accident was reported in Assam in February when a microchopper crashed near Tinsukia killing two pilots on board. In March, another Air Force plane crashed in Odisha's Mayurbhanj. While no casualties were reported, the pilot had sustained injuries. The latest accident was reported in April, when a M17 helicopter crashed in Uttarakhand's Kedarnath, in which all six people on board survived.
