In a tragic incident, eight students, and a teacher were run over by a roadways bus on Agra-Lucknow Expressway near Kannauj on Monday morning in Uttar Pradesh. According to the Times Now report, out of the eight students, six have been killed and two others are admitted in the hospital in critical condition. A teacher has also been mowed down, taking the toll to seven.

According to an ANI report, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the kin of those killed in the bus accident in Kannauj and an ex gratia of Rs 50,000 each for those who received injuries in the mishap.

The students were going on a trip to Haridwar with their teachers. The accident reportedly took place in Tirwa area of Kannauj district at around 4.00 am. The bus they were travelling in, ran out of diesel, the driver stopped the vehicle on the expressway. He was arranging for the diesel from the other bus, in which another group of students were travelling. In the meantime, some students came out and stood around their bus, a Uttar Pradesh State Road, Transport Corporation bus, came from behind and hit them.
