Jammu, May 8: In a video that has gone viral on social media, the mother of one of the five terrorists who were killed in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district encounter, is seeing giving a gun salute to her son. Saddar Paddar, who had joined militancy in 2014, was killed in the Sunday, May 6 encounter where five civilians were also killed who tried to obstruct the path of security forces while the encounter operations were underway.
In the video embedded in a tweet, the mother of slain terrorist Saddar Paddar can be seen kissing a young boy affectionately and taking his gun to shoot a few shots. The crowd around her, after she has shot, can be seen cheering the mother of Saddar Paddar. The body of Saddar was kept overnight in Heff village in Shopian, where the incident is reported to have taken place.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had said after the encounter that a middle path will have to be chosen by the Centre and appealed to people and youth in particular to not join militants groups. She also put the onus on parents by saying that parents should ensure that children do not die joining militant groups and that "Allah brought everyone in this world to live a good life and not embrace death at the age of 18 and 20 (years)".
Jammu and Kashmir University's assistant professor Mohd Rafi Bhat was one of the terrorists killed in the encounter. The academic turned terrorist was one among the five terrorists killed along with five civilians who tried obstructing security forces action against the terrorists on May 6, Sunday morning. Reports have emerged that the academic turned terrorist made his last call to family and spoke to his father before getting killed. His last words were: "I am sorry if I hurt you."
Meanwhile, the separatist leaders called for a "secretariat gherao". The moderate separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was detained. Syed Ali Shah Geelani put under house arrest. Yasin Malik was put in a Srinagar jail after the call for secretariat "gherao march". The separatist leaders, after the Shopian encounter, extended the shutdown in the Valley till Tuesday, May 8.
