Himachal Pradesh: All Schools in Shimla District to Remain Closed Due to Heavy Rains & Landslides

A cloudburst occurred in Kullu district's Katagala village, and two houses have also been damaged in the flash-floods.

Shimla, August 13: Most places in Himachal Pradesh have witnessed heavy rainfall in the last few days, and according to a forecast there will be heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in mid and low hills of the state for the next two days. Therefore, according to a recent ANI update, due to heavy rains, and landslides all schools in Shimla district, both government, and private schools will remain closed today.

A cloudburst occurred in Kullu district's Katagala village, and two houses have also been damaged in the flash-floods. No injuries were reported. The rescue team has been rushed to the spot.

Heavy to very heavy rains lashed Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Kangra and Una districts since yesterday with Naina Devi being the wettest in the state with 130.8 mm rains, followed by Mehre 128.2 mm, Nadaun 96 mm, Geler 78.5 mm, Kangra 72 mm, Una 64.6 mm, Nagrota Suriyan 62.4 mm, Shimla Airport 48 mm and Sujanpur Tira 40 mm of rainfall.

Earlier, due to rains causing heavy damage in parts of Himachal Pradesh, the education department has ordered the closure of all private, and government schools till August 10. Life has been paralysed in the area, with several roads, and bridges being washed away. Due to the bad weather, there has been cancellation of flights as well.
