Flight Schedule Update at Delhi Airport: Heavy Rain Causes Air Traffic Congestion, 24 Flights Diverted
Heavy rainfall combined with thunderstorm had led to the disruption of air traffic at Delhi airport.
New Delhi, July 2: Heavy rainfall combined with thunderstorm has led to the disruption of air traffic at Delhi airport. At least 24 flights have been diverted out of the airport. Bad weather delays flights at Delhi airport, at least 24 planes diverted. Most of the flights were diverted between 8.45 and 9.45 pm.
Jet Airways has informed its customers about the delay through its Twitter handle. It tweeted, “#9Wupdate: Air traffic congestion in #Delhi. Arrival & departure delays of up to 30 minutes are expected at Delhi airport till 00:00 hrs.”
Around a dozen, Air India flights were affected due to air traffic congestion. According to a report published in NDTV, A Singapore Airlines flight from Singapore, an Emirates flight from Dubai and a Gulf Air flight from Bahrain were among the international flights diverted because of the bad weather.
An India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said, “The maximum temperature was recorded at 37.8 degrees Celsius, a notch above the normal while the minimum temperature settled at 29.9 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.” The official further added, “The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to settle around 38 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius, respectively.”
One person has also been reported dead and others injured after the portion of an under-construction building collapsed due to heavy rainfall in Narela. It is an assembly segment within the North West Delhi Lok Sabha constituency. Heavy rains also have lashed Uttar Pradesh. IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in the northern and northwestern India including Hilly regions, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana.
