Three Indian Sportsmen Babita Kumari Phogat, Yogeshwar Dutt and Sandeep Singh contested Haryana Assembly Elections 2019 on BJP tickets but only one of them could win the election. Babita Phogat contested the elections on a BJP ticket from Dadri Assembly constituency of Haryana. Dadri Constituency is one of the six constituencies in Bhiwani district of Haryana. The two-time Common-Wealth gold-medallist lost to independent candidate Somvir. Yogeshwar Dutt, who contested from Baroda constituency of Haryana, lost to Congress candidate Srikrishan Hooda. However, Hockey player and former India captain Sandeep Singh won the Haryana Assembly Elections 2019 while contesting from Pehowa Constituency. The constituency is part of Kurukshetra district of Haryana. Sandeep Singh, also popular knowk as 'Flicker Singh' won by over 5 thousand votes.

Meanwhile, Haryana Assembly Elections 2019 took place on October 21, 2019. The Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019 were also conducted on the same day. Haryana has a total of 90 Assembly constituencies while Maharashtra consists of 288 Assembly constituency. BJP along with NDA alliance is the ruling party in both the States currently.
