Grenade Attack on Security Forces in Pulwama, 2 CRPF Personnel Injured; Second Attack in 24 Hours in Jammu and Kashmir

This was the second attack in Jammu and Kashmir in 24 hours while 11 attacks have been reported in the valley in the past four days.

Srinagar, June 4: Another grenade attack was reported in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama, hours after a grenade attack left 16 people injured in Shopian. This was the second attack in Jammu and Kashmir in 24 hours while 11 attacks have been reported in the valley in the past four days.

Two CRPF personnel have been injured in the grenade attack at Tahab Chowk in Pulwama. Earlier in the day, at least 12 people and four policemen were injured in a grenade attack in Shopian district. An unidentified person hurled a grenade at security personnel at Batapora Chownk.

Attacks on security forces have increased during the month of Ramzan even though the Centre suspended security operations in Kashmir Valley to observe the holy month in a peaceful environment.

Eight people including four paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers and an equal number of civilians were injured on June 2 in three grenade attacks carried out by terrorists at three locations in Srinagar. On May 29,  three army personnel were injured in an IED blast in Shopian district. The blast occurred between Sugan and Chillipora area of Shopian district.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police also defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by terrorists in Baramulla's Sopore on Monday.
