New Delhi, July 18: In a tragic incident that took place on Tuesday night, two buildings collapsed in Shah Beri Village, Greater Noida. An under-construction building fell on top of a four-storey next to it, and according to recent ANI reports, three dead bodies have been recovered, and many are feared still trapped under the debris. The builder, and his associates have been arrested in connection with the incident. The rescue operation is still underway by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team, who were called from the neighbouring Ghaziabad to help in the search operation. Reportedly, 18 families lived in the 4-storey building. The crowd present at the spot have said that the help reached the place, an hour and a half later. A lookout notice has been issued against the builder. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked the District Magistrate to follow up with the NDRF team and the police for relief measures and to ensure the immediate rescue of those trapped inside the rubble.

Greater Noida authorities had acquired land in Shah Beri. Villagers protested against the acquisition and moved court against this. The Supreme Court later cancelled the purchase. After the apex court’s ruling, builders had to change the location of their projects. The state government In January ordered a fast-track probe against as many as 27 serving and former Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority officials for their role in an alleged land scam in 2008.
