New Delhi, September 25: Fuel rates continue to rise causing extreme inconvenience to the commuters. A litre of petrol in Mumbai is being sold at Rs 90.22 and Rs 78.69 per litre. In Delhi on the other hand, petrol and diesel are priced at Rs 82.86 per litre and Rs 74.12 per litre. Check rates of fuel in your city here.

According to a Times of India report, the price of petrol in 32 cities and towns of Maharashtra is now over Rs 90 per litre, the highest being at Nanded -Rs 91.66. In Mumbai, diesel prices have soared too, touching a new high of 78.69. Experts are speculating that soon petrol will cross the Rs 100-mark. Prices of petrol and diesel have been going up almost daily since August 1. They fell only once on August 13 and have been on record levels for nearly three weeks now. High crude oil prices and a decline in the value of rupee against the US dollar are mainly responsible for a constant rise in fuel prices. The central government has ruled out any reduction in the excise duty on petrol and diesel for now.

The West Bengal government reduced the excise on petrol and diesel by Re 1 per litre each. The Karnataka government also announced a reduction in cess on transport fuels by Rs 2 per litre each across the state effective from last Tuesday.
