Fuel Price Hike: Fishermen in Rameswaram on an Indefinite Strike Over High Prices, Demand Tax-Free Diesel

Transporters have allegedly threatened to go on an indefinite strike if the diesel rates are not reduced and immediately controlled.

Chennai, September 3: People all over the country are extremely troubled with the rise in petrol and diesel prices. The petrol price in Chennai today is at Rs 82.24 as compared to Rs 81.93 on September 2. The diesel rates rose to Rs 75.19 as compared to yesterday's price at Rs 74.78. According to an ANI update, fishermen in Rameswaram are having an indefinite strike against the central government over the issue of diesel price hike. The petrol rates in Kolkata is Rs 82.15 today as compared to yesterday's rate of Rs 81.49. The price of petrol in Mumbai has touched Rs 86.56/litre, an (increase by Rs 0.31/litre) and diesel prices have shot to Rs 75.54/litre (increase by Rs 0.44/litre). This is not only a new high for the city but also the steepest in any of the major metro cities.

In Delhi, the petrol prices are at Rs 79.15/litre (increase by Rs 0.31/litre) and diesel is at Rs 71.15/litre (increase by Rs 0.39/litre) in Delhi. Transporters have allegedly threatened to go on an indefinite strike if the diesel rates are not reduced and immediately controlled.
