French President Emmanuel Macron Thanks India With an Emotional Video for His Successful Visit
The bilateral trade between India and France from April 2016 to March 2017 reached 10.95 billion dollars.
French President Emmanuel Macron recently concluded his four-day visit to India. He was accompanied by wife Brigitte Marie-Claude Macron, besides senior ministers from his Cabinet. President Macron and his family were received by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Airport in a special gesture.The intension of Macron’s visit was to boost ties between the two countries, especially in the areas maritime security and counter-terrorism. Macron in a video released on his social media handle, thanked India for the wonderful time, he and his family had in the country. He extended his gratitude to PM Modi for the warm welcome he was given.
He further informed that they have decided on strategic partnerships, new decisions were taken from security, economic, energy and environment point of view. He also mentioned the successful launch of the International Solar Alliance (ISA). Reportedly, ISA is a treaty based international inter governmental alliance of 121 solar resource rich countries lying fully or partially between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. The aim of the alliance is to promote solar energy and reduce the use of fossil fuels in sunshine-rich countries. Prime Minister Modi also pledged to generate 175 gigawatts (GW) of electricity in India from renewable energy sources by 2022, out of which 100 GW would be generated from solar power. Both the heads inaugurated Northern India’s biggest solar power plant in Mirzapur district's Chhanvey block.
He concluded his video, by asking young people, young students, entrepreneurs, academicians, researchers and Indian leaders to choose France. The bilateral trade between India and France from April 2016 to March 2017 reached 10.95 billion dollars. France is the ninth largest foreign investor in India with a cumulative investment of over six billion dollars from April 2000 to October 2017.
