Flipkart Loses Rs 1.6 Crore by Delivering Stones, Mud Instead of Items Ordered, E-Comm Giant To Conduct Probe

Bengaluru, June 8: E-commerce major Flipkart has allegedly suffered over Rs 1.6 crore loss in less than two years (January 1, 2016, to November 3, 2017) due to refunding customers who claimed they received stones and mud instead of the items ordered. According to a Times of India report, a complaint was recently lodged by Murthy SN, nodal officer, Flipkart Internet Pvt Ltd.

Police have said that in the above mentioned period, the e-commerce giant has received several complaints from customers, who had ordered costly items like phones, expensive gadgets that they had received stones, mud within the stipulated period. Few customers also took pictures and emailed it to the customer care department as a proof, and the company paid the customers without doing a proper verification. The company, however, now feels that several people are using this mechanism to cheat the company.

Flipkart is smelling fraud, and they have provided details of suspicious customers who placed orders for expensive gadgets and complained they had received stones and mud. In fact, several bank accounts of customers had received multiple refunds.
