February WPI Inflation in India Down to 7-Month Low of 2.48% As Food, Vegetables Turn Cheaper
The February WPI food inflation was recorded at 0.07 percent as compared to 1.65 percent in January,
Wholesale price index (WPI)-based inflation for the month of February is down to a 7-Month Low of 2.48 percent as compared to 2.84 percent in January. This comes as a huge relief to people across the country. As per reports, it is infact the lowest since July 2017.
The WPI index was eased in the month of February on lower food, vegetable and fuel prices. According to the data released recently, retail inflation fell to a 4-month low of 4.44 per cent in February on cheaper food articles and lower cost for fuel.
The February WPI food inflation was recorded at 0.07 percent as compared to 1.65 percent in January, while the WPI fuel and power inflation were recorded 3.81 percent as compared to 4.08 percent in January.
