There are widespread protests going on across the country with farmers in states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Kerala, Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Haryana taking an active part in the 10-day nationwide shutdown. However, the farmers in Mandsaur, in Madhya Pradesh, who were participating in the ‘Kisan Avkash’, had a kind gesture in the middle of all the protests.

Amidst all the bandhs and protests that are taking place, the farmers in Mandsaur prepared ‘kheer’ and offered them to the villagers. The farmers, who have stopped supplying the essential goods – vegetables, fruits, grains and milk to the cities, witnessed a sudden change of heart and eventually distributed the dessert among the villagers.

The farmers in the above-mentioned states are on a 10-day strike have been demanding loan waiver and implementation of Swaminathan Commission’s findings for a long time now. There were visuals being circulated on social media which showed farmers hoarding vegetables, fruits and other essential commodities. Not only that but also videos featuring farmers spilling milk on the roads went viral on WhatsApp, Facebook and other social media platforms.

However, there were also reports, on June 1, that the farmers in Bhopal had a complete contrasting viewpoint to it. Puncturing the entire ongoing protests drama in the state, a group of farmers said, “This feels like a normal day, we are not facing any problem. We don't want any type of agitation and we are not even a part of it. This is a conspiracy of the political parties.”
