Family of Software Engineer Who Was Lynched in Bidar, Karnataka Urges Proper Investigation

The deceased is an employee of Accenture and was currently working on a project with Google.

Karnataka, July 16: The family of the latest victim of lynching in Bidar region has called for proper investigation. In an extremely tragic incident, the 32-year-old software engineer identified as Mohammad Azam was killed by the mob after they mistook him as a child lifter, fuelled by rumours started on social media.

According to a Hindustan Times report, the family has refused to believe that the deceased techie looked like a child lifter, they expressed their shock that how could anyone suspect him to be a kidnapper of children? His brother has asked for stringent punished of the accused and urged Telangana government to take up the issue with Karnataka for a proper investigation into the matter. Azam, along with his friends were attacked by the mob, when one of them offered chocolates to some school children. Azam's friends were admitted to the hospital after the attack, but they are reportedly out of danger. One that fateful day, after distributing the chocolates, an argument started between the villager, sensing danger, they escaped from the spot.

However, their pictures were clicked, and soon circulated on WhatsApp. Post getting the message, the people from the other villages blocked the road, the car in which the victims were travelling pell in the ditch. They were pulled out and thrashed. The deceased is an employee of Accenture and was currently working on a project with Google.
