Assam, June 25: In a shocking case of cyber crime, a man wanted to take revenge from his wife's family for filing a case of cruelty against him. He, therefore, created a fake Twitter account in his brother-in-law's name and used it to post controversial messages from it, including a threat to blow up Guwahati, according to a Hindustan Times report.
According to the report, the accused identified as Ikramul Haque, who runs a small computer shop in Dhing in Nagaon, was arrested on Sunday. He had morphed the photo of his brother-in-law Jakir Hussain, and using his name, created a fake account @ChannelJakkir. Haque threatened a bomb blast in Guwahati on August 15, Independence Day, and posted communally sensitive comments against the ongoing National Register of Citizens exercise, among the other things. Haque's wife has moved to her parent's house, accusing him of torturing her.
According to reports, from the preliminary investigation it was clear that his brother-in-law was not the culprit, and then they finally managed to get hold of Haque, who was the mastermind behind the crime. A similar incident had happened in Barpeta in lower Assam when a trader posted pro-Pakistan comments from the Facebook account of his Muslim neighbour.
