New Delhi, December 18: The state High Court has ordered Snapdeal founders Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal to personally appear before it on January 9, with regards to a contempt case where the seller had allegedly listed duplicate Hindustan Unilever (HUL) products on the platform by not abiding a court order.

According to an Economic Times report, HUL claimed that the sellers had offered fake Indulekha-branded hair oil and hair cleanser on Snapdeal. In an earlier hearing, the court had ordered the e-comm platform to remove the listing of the fake products within a span of 48 hours of HUL informing the marketplace about it. However, inspite of it, few sellers resurfaced after Snapdeal reportedly delisted them, thus prompting HUL to file the contempt petition. Snapdeal in its defence said that it is a just a marketplace and they didn't sell the fake products themselves. But HUL lawyers argued that the e-comm platform provided logistics, advertising and managed the listings, so there is no way in which it can shun from its responsibility.
