Manesar (Haryana), April 12: A retired soldier and village head in Haryana has been shot dead by a former National Security Guard (NSG) commando apparently over a financial dispute, police said on Thursday. Two persons have been detained.
Sunder Fauji pumped half-a-dozen bullets into Bahadur Chauhan, the Sarpanch of Kasan village near here. The incident occurred close to the Delhi-Jaipur-Mumbai highway at Chauhan's office-cum-residence, senior police officer Ravinder Kumar told IANS.
"There was some financial dispute between the two. Both were involved in property business.
"Chauhan, in his mid-40s, allegedly refused to deliver the share of money to Fauji that they had earned after a property deal came through," he added.
Fauji surrendered at the Manesar police station after the killing late on Wednesday, Kumar said.
"The injured man was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries," he added.
Police detained Sunder Fauji and Yashpal Master, a teacher, for Chauhan's murder. Police are on the lookout for a third accused, Rampal.
