In a surprising case from Bengaluru, the Supreme Court has restrained a warring couple, who have been estranged from filing any new cases against each other. The couple who got married in 2002, went to the US and had their child in 2009. Post the relationship turned bitter, the woman returned to Bengaluru and was staying at her parental home. According to a News18 report, the separated couple has already filed 67 cases during the last seven years of litigation. The bench headed by Justice Kurian Joseph as quoted in the report said, "We restrain both from instituting any fresh litigation in relation to the pending disputes, be it criminal or civil against each other or the members of their family or against the school where the child is now studying, or advocates on either side, without express permission from the High Court."

The man is a software engineer holding a US citizenship and has filed 58 cases against his wife. On the other hand, the woman, now living in Bengaluru, has filed nine cases against him. The cases range from domestic violence to contempt of court. The Court further expressed pain and caught in the middle of the fight is a 9-year old child, who is mentally and emotionally traumatised.
