New Delhi, Aug 2: A criminal of Neeraj Bhanja gang received bullet injury on Thursday in an encounter with Delhi Police in Sarai Kale Khan area near Millennium depot. The injured criminal, identified as Saddam, was shifted to a hospital after the shootout. Two policemen were also injured in the encounter. The police recovered a pistol and several bullets from Saddam.

The police, acting on a tip-off, laid a trap, making a picket near Sarai Kale Khan bus stand. When Saddam came on a motorcycle, cops tried to stop him, but he attempted to escape. He first rammed his bike in the picket and then fired at cops in a bid to run away. In retaliatory firing, the police managed to catch hold of him. Saddam was shot in his leg during the encounter. Saddam was allegedly involved in cases of robbery, extortion and murder. Further details were awaited.
