Dubai, July 4: Emirates Airlines has taken back its to discontinue Hindu food on its flights after receiving criticism on social media in India. The airlines in its earlier announcement said that it would stop serving 'Hindu meal' and that Hindu customers can choose from a variety of regionally-inspired vegetarian and special meals. After drawing flak on social media, the Dubai-based airlines rolled back its decision with a day of its earlier announcement.
Reversing its decision, Emirates said, “Based on feedback from our customers, Emirates confirms we will continue to provide a Hindu meal option, to make it easier for our Hindu customers to identify and request this option.” The airlines confirmed that it rolled back the decision after taking into consideration customer feedback on its earlier decision.
In the statement issued today, the Dubai-based airlines also said that has always provided a wide variety of special meals which could be ordered 24 hours in advance to cater Hindu customers. The statement also mentioned that its menus reflect the culture and preferences of its customers.
The Dubai-based airlines on Tuesday announced that it had decided to withdraw the Hindu meal option from its in-flight menu was taken following a review of the onboard products and services. In that statement, it said, “Emirates also offers options of religious meals like Vegetarian Jain Meal, Indian Vegetarian Meal, Kosher meals and Non-Beef non-vegetarian options as well.” Emirates is the largest foreign carrier in India with the most number of flights.
