The menace of elephants is unfathomable, or we would rather say that it is us taking away the animal's habitat that they resort to killing us? The most recent case of a seven-year-old girl who was killed by an elephant while her siblings were critically injured in an elephant attack in Mundasahi under Champua forest range on Wednesday night is sending chills all across. The elephant reportedly used its trunk to snatch the seven-year-old girl from her bed after which it dragged her outside and trampled her to death. The deceased was known as Sini Munda. Sini died on the spot whereas her siblings Ganesh and Rani sustained critical injuries in the incident and are undergoing treatment at Champua Community Health Centre (CHC).
The elephant initially smashed the wall which collapsed on her siblings. This isn't the first time Odisha has been shaken by the deaths because of Elephants. Just a few months ago around five people were trampled in the nearby Angul district by a lone elephant who charged at a family-of-three while they were sleeping on a terrace of a house in Sandha village, as per reports.
Here's the attack video of elephants in Champua forest range:
The Champua forest range is in Odisha's Keonjhar district in eastern India and elephants are a common sight there. Forest department is making efforts to cope with the issue of Elephants killing people there.
