The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the recruitment notification for the posts of Administrative Officer in Geological Survey of India (GSI). It is regarded as one of the most coveted positions any government job aspirant could ask for. This time, the commission decided to conduct a Computer-based Recruitment Test (CBRT) to short-list the candidates for the available positions. According to the timetable, UPSC would conduct the CBRT on September 23, 2018, and the candidates will have to report at 12:30 pm at the examination centre. Hence, the conducting body had notified the complete details of CBRT on the official website; upsc.gov.in for all its candidates to check the exam scheme and syllabus. Only the short-listed candidates after CBRT would be asked to submit the documents in support of their claim for the posts. Their documents will be examined, and those who fulfil all the eligibility criteria as set by UPSC will be called for the interview as the final round for administrative officers in GSI. UPSC CBRT 2018 Scheme
1. The candidates will get two hours to answer all the questions.
2. All questions in CBRT will carry equal marks.
3. The test will consist of objective type questions with multiple choices of the answer.
4. The questions in Part A of the syllabus will be set in English only, and the questions in Part B of the curriculum will be set both in English and Hindi.
5. There will be a disadvantage for wrong answers. Every wrong answer will carry a deduction of one-third of the marks assigned to that question.
6. If no answer is marked for a question, there will be no penalty for that question.
7. The test will carry a maximum of 300 marks.
Syllabus of UPSC CBRT 2018
Part A General English: To test the candidates’ understanding of English Language and the vocabulary.
Part B: General Ability: To test the General awareness of the candidates about—
1. Indian Union and International Affairs including Current Affairs
2. Personnel Management and Industrial Relations
3. General Mental Ability
4. General Science
5. Computer Awareness & Basic knowledge of office automation software such as WORD/EXCEL
6. Office Management and Procedure
The detailed notification is available on UPSC’s website. It must be noted that CBRT and the interview will carry a 75:25 weightage for those candidates shortlisted based on the computer-based recruitment test and those who qualify in the interview. The examination venue and details will be intimated to the candidates in due course. Test centre once allotted cannot be changed under any circumstances.
