The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB) has begun the online applications for Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2018. However, the process has been hindered due to a technical glitch. Later today, the official website of UPBEB, i.e. upbasicduboard.gov.in stopped responding which disturbed the registration procedure. Several candidates who have been applying for the entrance exam since September 18 are at stress. The site still cannot be reached, even after repeated attempts by the candidates and the educational board authorities are working to rectify it. The last date to apply for TET 2018 is October 4 while the application fee would be accepted till October 5.
Media outlets claim that the agitated candidates have demanded Exam Regulatory Authority (ERA) to fix the problem as soon as possible. One of the candidates Deepankar Banerjee who has been trying to fill the forms was quoted in a TOI report as saying, “Our every minute counts and here hours are being wasted due to snag in the server. The online form is being filled after several attempts as the server hangs in between or shows error whenever the form is submitted resulting in wastage of precious time.” The ERA has made it mandatory for candidates to fill out the forms online. While the officials said that the technical problem arises whenever the number of applicants goes up. This time, reportedly, over four lakh candidates have applied for UP TET October 2018.
The entrance test will take place in two sessions on October 28; from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm for the candidates appearing in the Primary level exam and the afternoon session begins from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm, reserved for the upper primary level exam. TET is compulsory for those candidates who are seeking to take up teaching jobs at both primary and upper primary levels.
