UP Teachers Recruitment 2018: High Court Directs State Government to Submit Report on the Appointment Scam
The Lucknow bench of the High Court took serious note of the alleged irregularities in the appointment process of 68,500 teachers recruitment.
After the recruitment scam for teaching jobs at Uttar Pradesh was highlighted, the Allahabad High Court has directed the state government to submit the progress report on the probe on September 20. The Lucknow bench of the High Court took serious note of the alleged irregularities in the appointment process of 68,500 Assistant Teacher Recruitment Examination (ATRE) 2018. According to PTI, the bench of Justice Irshad Ali also sought the details of the action. The court further noted that all the appointments would be subject to its further orders to be passed. The ATRE was conducted on May 27 at 248 exam centres across 18 divisions of Uttar Pradesh, and the results of the same were declared on August 13. It was only then a list featuring names of 23 candidates appeared of which reportedly 21 who participated in the exam failed but were declared qualified in the result. The teacher recruitment scam in the state blew up when a candidate named Sonika Devi filed a petition claiming that her answer sheet was replaced and demanded revaluation. After the cheat came into the limelight, the UP government suspended the secretary of the exam regulatory authority, Sutta Singh with immediate effect and ordered disciplinary action against her. A government spokesperson said that more investigation is needed so that exemplary punishment can be given to the guilty. In the exam, more than one lakh aspirants had participated, but only 41,556 could clear it. Further investigation is on, and the results for those unqualified teachers are withheld.
