Every year, the SSC MTS recruitment is held to select junior staff in central government departments. In 2017, the exam was held in computer-based mode in September and October. After the declaration of the result of Paper 1, candidates will be eligible to appear for the descriptive paper. Paper 2 will carry 50 marks and the students will be allotted 30 minutes to answer them.

The SSC had to cancel its examination for the post of multi-tasking (non-technical) on April 30, 2017 after it found the question papers of the exam uploaded on the social networking site. An FIR was registered in this regard.  Seven people were arrested for allegedly leaking the question papers. The suspects were arrested from Uttar Pradesh, police said to media reports.
