New Delhi, May 5: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on Saturday released the exam schedule and other important dates on its official portal. As per the notification released on ssc.nic.in, the Tier-I of Combined Graduate Level examinations will be held from July 27 to August 28, whereas, the Tier-II tests will be conducted between November 27-30.
The SSC CGL 2018 exams, as notified in the current schedule, will be held for recruiting employees in Group B and C categories under various Ministries of the Central Government.
The examinations are conducted in four phases, or tiers, with the candidates being selected only after clearing all four of them. The schedule for Tier-III and Tier-IV rounds has not been declared yet by the SSC.
Key dates:
The candidates aiming to appear for the exams can submit their online applications beginning today. To apply online, click here. The last date for the same is June 4, 2018. The last date for the offline challan generation is also June 4. Meanwhile, the final date to clear payment via SBI challan is June 7.
Application fees:
The Commission charges Rs 100 from applicants belonging to the general category, as well as the Other Backward Classes. Meanwhile, those hailing from the SC/ST/PH communities are not required to pay any amount as the application fees. Female candidates are also exempted.
Examination process:
In the Tier-I exams, the students are required to obtain a total of 200 marks to advance to the next round. The exam comprises of five sections - general intelligence, reasoning, general awareness, quantitative aptitude and English comprehension - with the students being provided one hour to answer the questions.
The Tier-II exams are more in-depth, divided into four separate tests on Quantitative Abilities, English Language and Comprehension, Statistics and General Studies (Finance and Economics). Candidates will be given two hours to complete the paper. The passing marks are 800 -- 200 for each section.
Important to note is that 0.5 marks would be deducted on each wrong answer in Tier-I and Tier-II exams.
Tier-III exams will be more descriptive, with the candidates being given an hour to write essay, long-piece and letter. The paper could be attempted in either Hindi or English. Meanwhile, the Tier-IV exams would be skill-based. The SSC is yet to declare the schedule and dates of 3rd and 4th round of the examinations.
