SSC CGL, CHSL Results 2017: SC Stays Declaration of Results, Calls the System Tainted

The apex court further noted that it could not permit people benefitting from SSC examination scam to get into service.

In a significant move, the Supreme Court today stayed the declaration of the results for Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL) and Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL), 2017 Exams. In its opinion, the SC said, “Prima facie entire SSC system and examination are tainted,” as reported by PTI. In addition, the apex court further noted that it could not permit people benefitting from SSC examination scam to get into service. In 2017, the first level of the SSC CGL Tier II examination took place in August and the second level between February 17 and 22 this year. Severe gaps were identified in the examinations conducted by SSC following question paper leaks ahead of exams. There were massive protests by aspirants last year against the alleged paper leaks of CGL exams which led the government to order a CBI enquiry over it. The initial investigation began on March 5 and CBI registered a preliminary enquiry on March 8. A joint team of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force and Delhi Police had busted a gang of SSC exam paper solvers who helped candidates cheat in the exams by using remote access tool software like Teamviewer. SSC CGL Paper Leak Scam: Students Declare its "Halla Bol" Against Central Government. 

According to the police, the accused started operating in 2011. SSC CGL is the most prominent competitive exams in the country for graduate job seekers. The scores are used to hire as Assistant Audit officer, Assistant Accounts Officers, Assistant Section Officer, Assistant/ Superintendent, Inspector of Income Tax, Central Excise Inspector, Preventive Officer, Junior Statistical Officers, etc. Meanwhile, the commission is yet to announce the SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam 2018 date. Earlier, SSC announced to conduct the exams from July 25, which faced a postponement, now expecting it to be held in September to October 2018.
