Ahmedabad, June 1: In a latest case of distorting history and Ramayana, a class 12 Sanskrit textbook of the Gujarat Board says that Sita was abducted by Ram and not Ravana. To quote the paragraph, where the blooper happened, "Here the poet has brought out a beautiful picture of the character of Rama with his original thought and thinking. There is a very heart-touching description of the message conveyed by Laxman to Ram when Sita was abducted by Rama (sic),"
According to the Times of India report, retired Sanskrit professor has said that it is a 'translation error' and nothing else. The error is only there in textbooks of the English medium schools and in the Gujarati textbook there is however no mistake.
According to the TOI report, Dr Nitin Pethani, executive president of the Gujarat State Board of School Textbooks, Gandhinagar as quoted said that first he was not aware of the blooper but later admitted to the mistake.
