The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is conducting the series of exams to hire Assistant Loco Pilots (ALPs) and Technicians. On August 21, RRB hosted the seventh-set of First Stage Computer Based Test (CBT). To what is labelled as the largest recruitment drive, so far, no technical glitch has been reported this year. The Indian Railways has left no stone unturned to protect the competitiveness of the recruitment exams. To make it a cheating free exam, RRB has adopted strict and unique measures that include equipment to detect Bluetooth (wireless) devices at exam centres, checking Google trends to know if anyone is searching for cheating tips, and many more. Northern Frontier Railway Invites Applicants for Vacancies Under 7th Pay Commission Sports Quota.

In 2014, cases of cheating during the railway exam using Bluetooth and earpieces were reported. Again, last year, a candidate was held for cheating using Bluetooth device while participating in the civil service exams. Similar cases, as we all are well aware of have been highlighted during state board exams too. Looking at such menace, RRB was prompted to take up such steps and conduct a fair recruitment examination.

“We have a command centre in Delhi from where all 439 exam centers in 166 cities are being monitored. They are being monitored at every step of the process: Pre-exam, during the exam and post-exam phases. Since Bluetooth is the most common mode of cheating, we have asked duty staff to check if there are any active Bluetooth (devices) in the areas around the exam centers. For this, at some places, they were given devices while at some places they are asked to check it through their phones,” a railway official was quoted in Hindustan Times report.

Referring to the question paper leaks that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) faced this year, the official further informed in the same report that they are requesting RRB applicants not to pay money if someone is selling papers as they can be fake. Plus, they are also keeping up with the Google trends if people are searching for methods of cheating ahead of exam dates. If yes, the strictness in such cities will be increased.

The RRB computer-based exam to hire 60,000 ALPs began on August 9, and it will continue till August 31. Over 47 lakh candidates have applied for these posts. On the other hand, Group D exams for 62,907 positions will be held in September, and it will continue for at least 45 days. The Indian Railways have received 1.89 crore applicants competing for Group D posts.
