RRB Group D Exam for October 11 & 12 Cancelled in Odisha Ahead of Cyclone Titli; Fresh Dates to Be Announced Soon
The Chairman of RRB, Bhubaneshwar informed that the exams had been cancelled for centres in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Khurda and Berhampur.
Cyclone Titli hit coastal Odisha affecting many services between Andhra and Odisha. As per reports, trees and electric poles were uprooted in several parts of the state and lakhs of people from Odisha’s coastal districts have been removed to safety. Apart from flight and train services, Indian Railway aspirants have also been affected severely. Due to such horrendous situation, the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has cancelled the Group D exams which were supposed to held on October 11 and 12 in a few centres. As of now, RRB has not intimated any confirmed date but is expected to announce the fresh one for computer-based test (CBT) soon. The Chairman of RRB, Bhubaneshwar informed that the exams had been cancelled for centres in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Khurda and Berhampur. It further shall be noted that the revised dates and place will be sent to candidates on their registered mobile number and email id. RRB will also publish the notice on the same on their regional website; rrbbbs.gov.in. “Due to the forecast of severe cyclone named TITLI in Odisha on 11th & 12th October 2018, the RRB exams will not be held in any of the centres under the jurisdiction of Railway Recruitment Board /Bhubaneswar i.e. at Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Khurda & Berhamapur cities on the above dates. Candidates scheduled to appear in the exams on the above dates will be rescheduled and the revised exam city and date intimation will be advised through the registered mobile number and email of the candidates,” reads the notice available on the site. On October 10, hundreds of Group D job aspirants were stranded at the Bhubaneswar Railway Station after several trains were reportedly cancelled due to the cyclonic storm. The Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has issued alert to all coastal districts and collectors have been asked to make necessary arrangements in order to shift people living in low-lying areas. All schools and colleges in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have also been closed in anticipation of the weather conditions.
